Maine Coon Portraits

Maine Coons are built for grand portraiture: the lion-like ruff, the tufted lynx ears, the long square muzzle and that enormous plumed tail. This is the largest domestic cat breed, and the portrait should carry that scale — a Maine Coon painted small and cute misses the point entirely.

The coat does the storytelling: brown tabby with black marbling is classic, but silvers, smokes and torties all bring dramatic texture. The high-set, slightly oblique eyes — gold, green or copper — give the face its wild, watchful character.
